The arm supplied is hollowed out at the base and threaded on the inside. This then screws into the tremolo unit like a normal vintage bridge but there is also a small stud lock on the bridge unit to tighten the arm and lock it in position. This is a great design by Gotoh as the tremolo not only feels more solid, it also ensures the thread will not wear out over time.

This is the same tremolo used on the Ernie Ball Music Man EVH and Peavey Wolfgang guitars.
