Dan Armstrong Green Ringer Effects Unit
SKU: DAGR
|
Overview
A very interesting and unique type of distortion device which produces ring modulation type effects.
They're back! The legendary Dan Armstrong Sound Modifiers are back and better than ever. These units are now 100% USA made and hand-built to the original 1975 Dan Armstrong specifications by Grafton Electronics.
Dan Armstrong Sound Modifiers are a range of simple, compact, and robust accessories that can be used with any electrified instrument. They are designed to plug directly into the output of a guitar or bass guitar to give the player fingertip control of the effect, but they work just as well plugged into an electric keyboard / synthesizer or the output of any electronic accessory. Anyone who wishes to use these units at the input of the amplifier, rather than at the instrument, need simply interchange two colour-coded wires inside the box.
All six units are built in a heavy duty aluminium casing, using only the highest quality components available. Overall dimensions are 59mm wide x 59m high x 70mm deep (including the plug). The unit protrudes a mere 43mm from the face of the guitar. Total weight is only 41/2 ozs, including battery.
Each unit has a specific effect or function, but they can be combined easily by plugging one into another to produce more complex effects. For recessed output jackplates (e.g. Strat) adaptors are available to facilitate use.
All units come complete with a 9 volt battery already fitted, so all you need to do is plug and play!
If a single note is played into the Ringer it will produce a second tone one octave above the original note, but if two notes are played into it, it will produce sum and different tones just like a ring modulator. Depending on the musical interval between the two notes, the additional tones the Ringer produces will be harmonically related to the original notes (such as sub octaves) or dissonant. The Ringer gives the musician much better control over the effect produced than a conventional ring modulator, however, since he is no longer playing against an arbitrary modulator frequency. The Ringer features an Input Impedance of 100 kOhms, an Output Impedance of 500 ohms, and a Signal-to-Noise ratio of 86 db.
Extended jack socket available for strat type guitars - please specify your choice upon checkout.
